I believe that the first step in change is being willing to recognize there is a problem and be willing to ask for help. That takes a lot of courage and I know it can be difficult knowing where to start. Trust is a big component of healing. I believe that a lot of pain comes from fear, shame, rejection, abandonment, and broken trust. Identifying someone who can listen without judgment or offering quick answer can be hard to find. Many times people need to be heard, and more importantly loved. My goal as your counselor is to help you identify your goals and what you want to change. Then come along side of you to help you heal and meet those goals for your life. I believe change is possible and can be done in a safe, compassionate environment.
I have a heart and a passion for working with women, especially with those in the healthcare field. I have experience and enjoy working with doctors, nurses, counselors, psychologists, mothers, military members, ministers, and those who serve in a caretaker role of some capacity. I understand the challenges that come with being a caregiver or service member and needing help ourselves.
My faith is an important part of who I am as a counselor and I believe that God wants us to heal physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. My approach to therapy is person-centered using motivational interviewing. I have 8 years of military experience as well as education from University-Wisconsin River Falls, Bethel Seminary, Hazelden-Graduate School of Addiction Studies, and Adler Graduate School. I am licensed as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor as well as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
I have experience in the following areas:
