Healing can take many forms in our lives and therapy is one of those places that can facilitate that process. Like many, I reached out to see a therapist when I was in a very dark place in my life. I needed someone to process with me what was going on in my heart, soul and life. I was struggling and didn’t know where to turn.
I found a counselor who listened, accepted me where I was, and asked me some hard questions as I reflected on where I had been, where I was at today and what I wanted moving forward. Doing so forced me to come face to face with my own brokenness. I wrestled with my faith in God, navigated through some deeply troubling waters but I came out more whole than I did coming in. It was not easy, but I’m glad I reached out to meet with a therapist when I did. It was one of many pieces that contributed to my healing and helping me to move forward.
