Life can be difficult. Sometimes talking to someone who is trained as a “professional listener” can offer you a clear perspective. I am thrilled about freely accessing the Holy Spirit and make a direct connection with Jesus via prayer before the session and I will ask you if you want prayer at the end of a session. We have a large godly toolbox available to us. I have struggled in my own life with challenges and our Father has always found the right counselor/therapist in my time of need as an adult. It takes courage to ask for help. I enjoy working with adults and couples who want to find a way through life’s challenges using therapeutic tools and strategies. I have a special heart for people who grew up with a parent or caregiver abusing substances like alcohol or drugs, those who have experienced the pain of abortion (birth mothers and fathers), and those who have experienced big or small traumas in their lives. I strive to extend safety, space and time for you to be heard, and I will be respectful of your story and struggles.
I lift my eyes to the mountains-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Education, Experience and Training
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have a Masters in Social Work from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy that I use with couples and individuals. I use protocols for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), and techniques from other interventions to address negative beliefs and trauma-based experiences. I also feel well-versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other interventions that can help you initiate change from the inside.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
