Abby Esters

Everyone needs help sorting through their thoughts and emotions at various points in their lives. For the past 5 years, I have been working with people struggling with depression, self harm, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, borderline personality disorder, and strained relationships. For the past 3 years I have been working at The Emily Program, which specializes in the treatment of eating disorders. I am a trained Prepare and Enrich instructor and I have a special interest in doing pre-marital and marital counseling.

During our formative years, we all learn a mix of effective and non-effective ways of dealing with negative emotions. I will help you become aware of how the interactions in your family of origin as well as your current relationships may be helping or hindering your healing process.

I utilize a strengths-based, empathetic approach and a variety of counseling methods including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. For those who welcome it, I enjoy talking about where God is in your healing process.

The presence of Christian therapists in my own life has been a formative part of my walk with Jesus Christ. I hope to provide that same non-judgmental presence for you as you sort through life’s trials. Romans 8:28 has given me comfort when I have felt hopeless and without direction. It states, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” I would be honored to walk alongside you as you gain more insight into who God created you to be.
