The great American philosopher Henry David Thoreau captured the mood of many people when he said, “the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” What was true in American society over 150 years ago is unfortunately all too true today. We know that many people walk through life filled with confusion, hopelessness, fear, sadness and anxiety. However, our desperation can be healed through the love and power of Jesus Christ.

As a believing Christian, I use a Christ-centered approach when working with individuals, couples, and families. God is my “co-therapist” and provides me with the guidance and direction that are needed to for me to help people to heal and grow in each aspect of their lives – spirit, mind, and body. While life may be a struggle for most of us, we can learn to face those struggles with encouragement and anticipation rather than fear and apprehension. No matter where one may be in their spiritual life journey, Christ is there with them. It is my hope and prayer that I may have the privilege and blessing to help those who come to me to proceed on with that journey with less fear, despair, and discouragement.

When it comes to therapy, my primary focus is with couples and families. We may enter therapy as individuals; however, we so often enter therapy with the pain and disappointment we’ve experienced in our relationships. Whether the problem involves a marriage that appears to have lost its romance or the family that has experienced the pain of years of addiction by a family member, we come for healing, forgiveness and the hope of reconciliation. We are by nature in need of unconditional love, support, and acceptance by those close to us. When we don’t experience these positive feelings in our significant relationships, we will bend emotionally and mentally under the weight of these difficulties and problems. As a Christ-centered marriage and family therapist, it is my goal to facilitate the healing, reconciliation, forgiveness, and renewal through the guidance and love of our Lord within marriages and families. As with the family of believers, I believe our Lord desires us to experience the same unconditional love we receive from Christ in our most important relationships.

My primary areas of specialization and experience includes marital and family related conflicts, issues and communication problems, the treatment for acute stress disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)and other anxiety-related disorders, addictive behaviors, anger management, men’s issues, stress management/relaxation, spiritual conflicts, mood disorders, adult ADD, life transition issues/conflicts, and grief/loss issues. I have completed part two of the Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) training and frequently use this treatment modality when confronting PTSD, acute stress disorder, and other anxiety-related disorders.
