Minnetonka, Fridley, St. Paul, Stillwater, Hudson
Hello and thank you for taking a moment to stop by my webpage.
My name is Kate Walsh Soucheray and I have been married to my husband John Soucheray for twenty-nine years. I know – amazing in this world today. We met after we had both finished college and were working in Stillwater. We have three grown children, one of them married to her college sweetheart, one getting married in the fall and one grandchild.
I have been blessed to study. As a wife and mother of a busy family, that is no small feat. I have a master’s degree in theology and a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, as well as a license as a marriage and family therapist. Working at Christian Heart Counseling allows me to use both of my fields of study, as we bring the healing touch of Christ into our therapy sessions and often move in ways we never dreamed possible.
I was a teacher for seventeen years in social studies and religion at the middle and high school level, so I have a great deal of experience working with pre-teens, adolescents and teen-agers. However, I do work with children as young as five years of age.
I love working with children, and while it is difficult to see young people suffer, working with them and their families as they struggle through issues that are troubling them is very gratifying. Some of the areas I most often see are anxiety and depression, lack of a good and accurate self-esteem, ADHD/ADD, cutting, questions about adoption, concerns about sexuality, as well as working through a divorce.
My work with families who have children identified with ADHD/ADD, who are being bullied, or who have self-esteem issues or organizational problems allows me to tap into my years in the classroom. The stress placed on a family when a young person struggles in school often causes the family to lose sight of its primary purpose: to nurture the love between the parents and conveying that love to their children. Families with children who struggle in school face many difficulties. I love working with these families and helping navigate them to a more peaceful home life.
I assess for ADHD/ADD, and if you are interested, you can call our office to inquire about that process. I also utilize Play Therapy with young children to help discover underlying concerns, of which we see symptoms, but they are often too young to articulate the cause of their sadness.
I also work with many couples who are struggling with communication and conflict resolution issues. We employ the use of several tools that help couples learn how to express themselves and communicate more effectively with their spouses, family members, friends and co-workers. I also help couples identify their core values by writing a Family Mission Statement which helps them begin, often for the first time, to work together as a team toward their stated objectives.
My work as a marriage and family therapist at Christian Heart has been some of the most rewarding of my life. I would love to meet with you individually, you and your spouse or you and your family to help you embrace each new day with gratitude and wholeness, realizing how much God loves you!
“And we know, all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to God’s purpose,” Rom. 8:28.
May God bless you, Kate

1.) If you have a teenager, do you find yourself arguing or fighting with them over what seems like every little thing?
2.) If you have a younger child, do you wonder if they are working up to their potential in school and if there is something more you could do to motivate them?
3.) Is your family at a place where you could use a little extra motivation? If so, do you think writing a Family Mission Statement would be helpful at this time?
4.) Is having supper together as a family, where everyone sits down, talks and listens to each other important to you?
5.) Do you have a child whom a teacher has recommended you have assessed for ADHD/ADD? If so, do you know where to turn?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above listed, I would love to help you out.
